"You go here for the location. Communal areas. Rooms are basic but clean. Staff were welcoming and obliging but I found I had to ask for info sometimes that I would expect to have been told on check in. Food was fine. Nothing remarkable but good. The one thing I didn’t enjoy was the noise because there is no glass at the windows. This meant I was woken up by nearby families banging around or cleaning staff. Also the resort was a bit too family-facing for my preference. However it was easy to get a river taxi for all the tours from the village or directly from the Lodge for the tours Mawamba run themselves."
"We stayed in the hotel as a party of six people with two teenagers sharing a room with two adults and two adults in a room on their own.
The location was very good to be in the middle of the small resort. It is located about five minute walk from the jetty where the boat will leave you. The journey with our luggage was fine however it was not raining and on the return to the Boat at the end of our stay we paid a local staff member to take our luggage as it would’ve been difficult with elderly relatives. In hindsight, we should have left the majority of our luggage in our car parked and taken a small backpack with the clothes and items we needed as this was a short stay as part of our two week trip around Costa Rica.
The staff wore meant many hats as it is a small resort and I would like to pay particular praise to Brian who was a young receptionist who spoke excellent English and was very clued up on the local area and resort.
The rooms were basic and the Aircon was excellent. The showers were surprisingly good, but the pressure in the taps was poor, but it didn’t really matter as we tended to have showers at the end of the day and just use the tapwater for brushing teeth and washing hands after toileting.
The breakfast once again was basic but sufficient. There was a selection of teas which was important with us being English and the coffee was very nice.
I would recommend this as a good base for your trip around Tortuguero."
"L’hôtel est vraiment bien situé, juste devant l’immense plage (baignade interdite!). Pour la baignade, la piscine de l’hôtel a plu à toute la famille!
L’appartement est grand et les lits sont confortables!
Le personnel est fort sympathique, particulièrement Josué et la dame du restaurant où nous prenions le déjeuner.
Nous recommandons!"
"Staff were excellent especially Kaylor and the team, very warm and helpful with organising our tours. Food options also very good and place is quiet and in the middle of nature. Accomodation is ok, little bit rustic but then it is an eco lodge and you paying for seclusion and to be close to wildlife. Would recommend overall"
"Excellent staff and amazing tours. Hotel is located in a convenient spot close to town center but in a very quiet area near the beach. Tour guides Warren and Luis are incredible. Any tour with them is recommended. Natalia and Will at the fest are helpful and really great."
"We had a chance to stay in a room with the view on the river. So cool! The balcony protects you well from the rain season allowing to spend relaxing time.
The staff is really helpful for any question, as well as helping to book the public boat from and to Pavona. The boat by the way brings you directly to their private deck 😁"
"Beautiful setting and extremely clean! The Hotel is very helpful over whats app. The buffet is tasty but quite basic. There is no AC in the rooms, just block a ceiling fan that wasnt very powerful- this was ok at night and we slept well but not very comfortable during the day. Overall a nice stay."
"One of our favorite places we stayed in Costa Rica so far! Juanita was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend this place! Saúl was an awesome guide with the hostel as well!"
